NEW GENERATION CHORAL SERIES

These original compositions and arrangements were written for The New Generation Singers of St. Joseph, Missouri. This “singing youth group” has been traveling across the United States and Canada with their annual sermons-in-song since 1970 — over 50 years!
Proceeds from the sheet music purchases from this choral series will go directly to benefit The New Generation Singers.

Ain’t Got Rhythm
from Phineas and Ferb

This groovy song from the hit Disney® TV series Phineas and Ferb will have your singers and audiences dancing in the aisles at your next performance. In the episode, the school librarian (a former rock band drummer) argues he is not able to make music anymore unbeknowningly rapping and creating a stomp-like rhythm groove, inspiring the students in the library to erupt into excited mayhem. This message of hope and changing one’s self view should be the focus of your singers…and having fun!

This song uses the style of gang-singing, an early American form of improvised singing in groups (like those featured in the film O Brother, Where Art Thou?). The arrangement creates a format for the choir who wishes to partake in this style, although many other interpretations and voicings can be used.

Did you know that the famous tune Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas has alternate lyrics? After the success of the original, one of its writers Hugh Martin could not find success in his other endeavors. With economic woes and falling notoriety, Hugh wrote new lyrics for the tune to encapsulate his feelings of his once-great success, but more importantly for the reason he wrote that song in the first place. This arrangement incorporates those new lyrics with the original chorus, and it will surely warm your heart upon hearing these new words paired with the familiar melody.

One of the all-time famous works by The Beatles, this arrangement aims to capture the heart and spirit of the original song. The lyrics create a wise and comforting message to live your best life (with subtle inferences to the Virgin Mary) with a supportive melodic line and harmonies accessible for all voices. Optional solos may be taken to direct its message even further. This arrangement also includes the bridge from another Beatles classic Hey Jude, with the invitation for your audience to sing along.
